You are Worthy of Vitamin B1, Thiamin!

B vitamins are water soluble vitamins which means it would be very rare to take too much. The body flushes out any excess it doesn’t need every day. Because of this all water soluble vitamins have to be replenished every day. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables will allow your body to absorb many vitamins and minerals, but because of NPK farming, the majority of our food is lacking in key nutrients that need to be replenished with daily supplementation. Taking a B-Complex supplement each day is highly recommended and keeping a bottle of B1 on hand is encouraged as well.

B1 or Thiamin is sometimes called the “anti-stress” vitamin.

In today’s world stress is a hot topic! The majority of people are “stressed out” even those that handle it well. Some common symptoms of B1 deficiency are:

  •         Fatigue

  •          Abdominal discomfort (could be many things though)

  •          Depression

  •          Irritability

  •          Muscle weakness

  •          Mental confusion (try supplementing with the elderly to maintain memory)

So many are suffering from just those things and thiamin could really make a difference in people's lives! Keeping a bottle around for those stressful days, circumstances, or people (but I would recommend staying away from those that cause you stress and don’t support and uplift you in all the ways you deserve 😊) is a great way to support your body as it navigates this amazing life.

B1 is critical for so many processes in the body!

It converts carbs to glucose. (Eat those veggies!)

Metabolizes fats and proteins.

Supports healthy skin, hair, eyes, brain & liver function.

Helps deal with stress.

Strengthens the immune system, which gets depleted by stress.

So important for the detox processes of the liver!

Nervous system and heart function.

Athletes may require even more to help process all those healthy carbs to energy.

Lowers blood pressure (be sure to discuss with your doctor), but don’t expect it to make up for a poor diet.

And so much more!

A whole food plant-based diet is going to provide you with the best chance of receiving all the vitamins, mineral and nutrients your body needs. Some of the best foods to eat to support your body with B1 are:

  1.   Oatmeal (Always buy organic, non-gmo)

  2.   Kale

  3.   Asparagus

  4.   Potatoes

  5.   Sunflower seeds

  6.   Liver*

 *Liver is NOT recommended.

Organ pills are very much hyped up right now. And they probably do provide body assistance (and some brands I’m aware of actually contain B vitamins!) But the liver is the MAIN DETOX organ in all animals and any toxin the body cannot remove gets stored in the liver. (This is why I highly recommend detoxing the body!) So essentially, if you are ingesting the main detox organ of an animal, you are ingesting all the toxins that animal could not eliminate in a highly concentrated form. The problems this could cause are not worth it.  I would compare it to taking a few teaspoons of peppermint essential oil instead of just drinking a cup of peppermint tea. If you know about essential oils, this would be awful and could potentially be harmful.

To incorporate some of these foods in your day to day life add a tablespoon of sunflower seeds to your smoothie, juice that kale or throw it into a salad, sauté some asparagus (or I love to juice it!) and eat potatoes all day everyday 😊 But keep a bottle of B1 on hand for “those days” and you can even take it everyday if going through a stressful situation. You are worthy of feeling amazing. You are worthy of optimal health and living your VERY BEST LIFE!

Dana’s favorite oatmeal “recipe”

½ cup filtered water

½ cup organic non-gmo soy milk

½ cup organic non-gmo oats

½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon

Cooked on the stove top until most of the liquid is absorbed.

Then I add:

Organic frozen blueberries

Handful of walnuts

Handful of coconut flakes

Maple syrup

YUM!

I really love to eat oatmeal for dinner. The body uses a lot of energy to metabolize fat, so I like to eat my fat (walnuts, coconut) later in the day when possible to avoid feeling sluggish.

Let me know if you try taking B1. I recommend keeping a journal, so you are consciously thinking about it each day. Here are a couple brands I have used.

Bluebonnet Vitamin B1 100 mg

Solgar Vitamin B1 500 mg

Now, go make yourself a cup of green tea, sit in the sunshine and put your bare feet on the Earth while you go and decompress from the day.
