Oregano, a Powerhouse Herb
Oregano, origanum vulgare, also known as wild marjoram may be most familiar to you in pizza sauce or taco seasoning, but the medicinal properties of the herb rival the culinary benefits you obtain when including it in your cooking. This wonderful herb is native to the Mediterranean region and obtained its name from the Greek words oros, mountain, and ganos, joy and beauty. This joy of the mountain now can be found all over the world and is an easy addition to your home garden.
The Greeks and Romans used it after bathing as a fragrance as well as in massage oil. It is a wonderful disinfectant and I use it in my cleaning routine regularly. You can find it in Sunlife’s Microbe Buster essential oil blend. I use this in my washing machine, soaking clothes, or heavier microbe busting for toilets, baths, and sinks.
MEDICINAL BENEFITS
Oregano in tincture form is extremely powerful. I take this daily to support my body while it continually works overtime to protect me. Here are some of the most common benefits:
Antibacterial
Antifungal
Antimicrobial
Antiviral
Nervousness
Irritability
Insomnia due to tension and anxiety
Expectorant
Pain reliever (muscles)
Repels intestinal parasites
Antiseptic
Stimulant
Digestive support (for stomach flu)
Because I have so much life proof using Oregano throughout the years, whether in tincture, essential oil roller, or diffuser form I can’t recommend it enough! There have been multiple occasions where the entire family is ill and I’m the only one who does not go down. I use Sunlife’s oregano tincture daily, Illness Warrior roller when I feel I’ve been exposed to illness or my throat feels “off” and the microbe buster to disinfect and clean basically everything.
How do you incorporate oregano into your life? If you are only using this essential herb in your pizza sauce, I highly recommend not limiting yourself and trying out one of the other methods above. The lifeproof I have with oregano is really unmatched to anything else I’ve tried. I’ve had more success with it than any other mainstream options to stay healthy while illness runs rampant around me.
